Profile
As a trained counsellor MBACP (Accred.) I believe each person is an individual, therefore my counselling is tailored to meet your own needs. I am a UKRCP (Reg Independent Counsellor) and a MBACP (Snr. Accred) supervisor.
I offer professional, sensitive, confidential counselling, for individuals, adolescents, couples and organisations, working in 'Integrity Counselling', an independent practice in Farnborough.
I do both short term and long term work.
Coming for counselling can be a big step at a difficult time in your life.
Finding the right counsellor for you can be difficult even when you have decided to explore counselling, you can feel uncertain of sharing with a stranger your innermost thoughts and problems that you may never have shared with anyone before. This is understandable even if you are looking to further your self awareness, sometimes this first step can be the hardest.
When you come for your first session we discuss matters of confidentiality and agree a contract to allow us to work together within safe boundaries. I work within the ethical guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (B.A.C.P.) I commence by establishing a professional working relationship that is agreeable to both of us. I offer a free half hour to assess the problem that you bring to me. If we feel able to work together to form an open and trusting relationship, and both agree to continue, I offer a safe space in which we can explore and listen to your needs. Sometimes voicing your problem to someone independent of your situation can allow solutions come to the surface and give clarity.
Each person finds their way forward in their own unique way, quite often clients feel valued and listened to for the first time ever. This often alters their view of themselves enabling them to change their approach to relationships. These changes are a result of working together in a trusting and open relationship, with therapy tailored to your individual needs.
I used to run Rushmoor and District Mental Health Association, where I gained understanding and experience in Mental Illness from the many people who came for help. This is where my interest in psychology started. I completed an honours degree in psychology in 1989 and continued on to study counselling and also counselling supervision.I have gained much experience on a wide range of issues as a counsellor / psychotherapist working within B.A.E. Systems and Olive Branch Counselling Service.
I offer one hour sessions per week, six sessions are sufficient for straightforward problems but for deeper and more complex issues I offer more open ended sessions.
I also offer telephone counselling if unable to attend sessions.
I am a qualified supervisor for counsellors, counselling students and trainee supervisors, please contact me for further details.
I currently supervise trained counsellors and have students from Farnborough College of Technology, Guildford College, and Roehampton.
