Counsellor Profile
I work long-term open-ended as well as short-term solution-focused with individuals over 18 years of age in a small, friendly and well-established Private Practice(since 2003) in Bath City Centre close to Pultney Bridge.
I am a qualified Counsellor and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP (Accred.)
Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)
I hold a first degree 1982, an MA, and a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling.
I work from a psycho-dynamic and humanistic-integrative perspective.
My range of counselling experience includes working at the Bath University Counselling Service, the City of Bath College Counselling Service and in General Practice (GP surgery).
In addition to seeing clients in my private practice I also work as a student counsellor at the Bath University Student Counselling Service and as a Trustee with the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I deal with life-transitions, relationship and personal issues, work related issues, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, anxiety, anger, eating disorders and stress.
Fees
Individual sessions are usually weekly at the same time and day, last 50 minutes, and I charge £35. I have some concessionary places for people in education or on low incomes.
Extra Information
People usually come to counselling because they feel stuck, because they cannot solve painful relationship issues or dissatisfying situations in their lives, or they may suffer from recurring problems like anxiety, stress, anger, depressive states, low self-esteem and many more.
By talking about these issues and being met with a warm, empathic, non-judgemental attitude, clients will be able to get in touch with buried feelings and become more aware of their individual ways of dealing with life issues.
This type of counselling experience is usually felt to be very supporting, and over time enables clients to move on to live more positively. Clients are likely to end up with a better understanding of their past, more compassion for themselves and others in their life, and an ability to be more in touch with a whole range of feelings.
Through these internal changes clients often find to their surprise, that even just small changes in their behaviour, thoughts, and paying attention to their own feelings and needs, can make a huge positive difference in their lives.
