About me

Welcome to my profile, I hope you will find it useful in making your choices.

You are warmly invited to take a look at the information below about my counselling services in St Albans and Luton. You can also find out more at my website; If you prefer, you are most welcome to call or email me with any queries.

I am a BACP Senior Accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with 13 years experience offering the 'talking therapy'. My counselling approach is integrative and is tailored to the needs of the individual client. I am also UKCP (United Kingdom council for Psychotherapy) registered and have a Diploma in supervision and offer Counselling Supervision to experienced counsellors, trainees and counsellors working in voluntary agencies.

In my private practice I offer you short or long term counselling and will give you the time and space you need to find ways through issues that are causing you difficulty or distress.

Research shows that talking things over with a trained professional who is not directly involved in the situation can be of great benefit.  The way I respond to what you say can help you to become more aware of what you think and feel, help you to focus on what is important to you, help you to recover your abilities to cope and give you the strength to move on.

Each session lasts for one hour and I will leave it to you to decide on what to talk about, how often we meet and how many sessions you require.  Most people like to meet once a week, others once a fortnight, others once every few months or so.

For me, it is important that it is you who is in control of your counselling and that it is you who decides on what to talk about and how often we meet.

How I work with clients

I work as an Integrative Counsellor, as I have integrated various counselling theory and techniques in to my work as I have developed professionally, however, my core approach is psychodynamic. This approach can be particularly helpful where there are painful memories from the past; as well as difficulties in dealing with distressing feelings in the present.  It can also be a really useful approach for focusing on problems in the ways we relate to each other; and for issues around loss; abuse, (including sexual, physical and psychological abuse); identity; or self-esteem.

It is also important that we find a way of working together that suits you and your needs and therefore other theory or approaches I am able to use include: Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural Techniques, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Mindfulness, NLP, Embodied Relational Therapy, Integrative MindBody Therapy and Hypnotherapy. We can discuss any of these approaches in more detail during the initial session and generally how we can work together in a way that is helpful to you

Private Health Insurance

I am an approved provider with insurance companies including Oakdale, AVIVA and SimplyRehab. If you would like your appointments to be covered by your insurance then a referral from your GP or psychiatrist may be required. It is usually best to contact your provider to confirm their criteria. If you would like any assistance then please contact me.
