Counsellor Profile

I have experience counselling children, adolescents, and adults and of coordinating a children's counselling service.
I have been counselling since 1998.
The way I work:
I use an approach called therapeutic counselling. This means that I help clients to explore their thoughts and feelings either through talking or through using such media as paint, clay, writing etc. and by helping clients to develop metaphors and visual images of their experiences. In this way, I can help people who know why they are distressed as well as people who are confused by feelings they do not understand or cannot explain. Counselling is confidential unless a client discloses that they or others are at risk. My work is regularly supervised by an experienced counselling supervisor.
My qualifications include:
Advanced Diploma in Counselling from Cambridge University
an MEd in Counselling from Cambridge University
a Certificate in the Educational and Therapeutic Application of the Arts from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education
I am Registered as a Therapeutic Counsellor with UKAPC (United Kingdom Association for Psychotherapeutic Counselling)
I am a Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I am an experienced teacher and run workshops for parents who are concerned about their children's behaviour.
I work to the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
