About me

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a graduate member of the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology with over 20 years clinical experience. I offer counselling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples and I am particularly interested in seeing couples who are committed to understanding their relationship. Together we will explore and attempt to understand distress and difficulties which may affect your everyday functioning, and in particular relationship issues. Using a psychodynamic approach we will explore the basis for your depression, anxiety, phobias, life crisis, marriage/ partnership breakdown, betrayals and other relationship issues, eating disorders, or sexual difficulties. You will take an active part in the process of gently exploring your feelings, and so gaining insight and acceptance of those things which cannot be changed.  Ways of being which have hindered you in the past may take on a new perspective.

You may be entering a new phase of life such as getting married, starting a family or becoming a blended family and wish to talk over this with your partner. I can offer pre-nuptial counselling.

Whatever is troubling you and interfering with living a full life can be helped by taking the risk of talking it through in a safe and confidential relationship.

Some other issues that can be helped by counselling are bereavement, ill health, fertility difficulties and postnatal depression. I have a particular interest in working with couples and have further training in Couple Counselling and Psychosexual Counselling. As a BAPPS accredited supervisor I also offer counselling supervision for individuals and groups.
I believe in, and maintain practise in line with the professional Code of Ethics and Good Practise by my accrediting organisation BACP

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
