Counsellor Profile
My name is Alistair and I work as a counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice from my home in Cropwell Bishop, (near Bingham) Nottingham. I provide counselling for Employee Assisted Programs such as BUPA.
I also work part-time for the NHS providing counselling at a GP practice in Leicestershire.
I believe counselling can be an enriching and rewarding experience for many people. I have experienced the benefits myself, and I have seen clients grow and develop through their use of the counselling relationship.
Training, Qualifications & Experience (more info)
Pursuing my interest in counselling and relationships I attended Nottingham University where I studied human relations, achieving a Masters degree in 1996.
I then began working as a volunteer counsellor at Nottingham Counselling Centre and completed their integrative training program. I became an Accredited Counsellor at the Counselling Centre and a member of the assessment team. I worked with clients there for 10 years.
I have a diploma in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy from Temenos, an independent training organisation in Sheffield providing high quality training in the person-centred approach. I am committed to this approach and I am a member of the British Association for the Person-Centred Approach (BAPCA).
I also have an Advanced Diploma in CBT methods for person-centred counsellors from Warwick University.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work within its ethical framework for good practice.

I work with adult individuals and have experience of both short-term and long-term work. I work with a range of issues including stress, anxiety, depression, unhappiness, relationship issues, and bereavement. I find counselling can also be helpful in finding meaning and purpose in life, spiritual issues or simply for personal growth.
Fees
A fee of £15 covers the cost of the first session. I see this as a mutual exploration of the issues. Subsequent sessions cost £35 per one hour session. This may be negotiable for people on low incomes.
