Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Testimonials; How people experience counselling with me

Seeing Roz has been an amazing journey. I have found my true self worth and she helped me realise who i am and that I deserved so much more than I was receiving.Roz helped me work out how to get where I'am now and believe in myself. i honestly don't think anyone else could have helped me get here.Roz is a kind and caring soul with so much knowledge and experience. I never felt she judged me, she listened to my every word and I felt stronger after even spending even just an hour with her. I was able to deal with difficulties from my childhood which was impacting on my life. I now feel at peace and will trust myself. We all need guidance and support in our lives when we feel lost, and Roz will help you reach your goal as she has with me, more than she will know. Sue age 42

I've struggled for years with my problems and never known how to deal with them. i tried 6 different counsellors over the years and always ended up feeling the same-these people don't get me, they can't help and this isn't for me! Roz has been an absolute godsend to me. I knew from the very first session she was different and left that day with a real sense of optimism. She was a total breath of fresh air and I can't begin to describe how different i feel and how much better my life is. Roz has helped me so much. Work is better, relationships are better, life is better! I've been on an amazing journey of self discovery and can honestly say (at 31 years old)I finally feel alive, i finally feel I can become who I'm supposed to be. I could have never imagined writing that sentence a few months ago. i can only thank Roz so, so much for all her help and without a doubt say I'd recommend her to anyone. Simon

Having some sessions with Roz has made such a difference to how I feel and such a relief to find what I thought was a terrible problem, turned out to be solvable.I felt very lost and low when I first contacted Roz and was struggling to make sense of how and why I felt like that. After our first session i started to feel better and that their was a light at the end of the tunnel. I now feel great and back to my old self. She really did help me to see things clearly and I'm thankful I was lucky enough to find Roz and so glad I sought help after putting it off. Karen age 58.
