About me

If you have reached a crisis point in your life, I can help you work through your concerns and move forward. Your challenges may be recent or longstanding - either way you have decided that now is the time to take this courageous step in asking for help and with my support you can find your own power and live the life you deserve. With over twenty six years experience of working as a therapist with couples, individuals, young people and groups (Relate 1996-2011 alongside a private practice in New Malden, KT3), I offer a secure and confidential therapeutic environment. I am 'Enhanced CRB' checked, and as a Member of the BACP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work regularly with my Clinical Supervisor to ensure best practice.

How I Work
Drawing on Psychodynamic and Person-centred theory, I use an integrative approach in my counselling work. I am qualified as an Advanced Hypnotherapist and HypnoHealer, and I combine my extensive counselling experience with hypnotherapy when appropriate. I work both short and long term with clients, depending on their needs. My practice in New Malden is close to Kingston, Richmond, Surbiton and Wimbledon with easy access to London and Surrey via the A3.

I was part of the team of professionals at Brealy Bootcamps, where I delivered group hypnotherapy focusing on weight loss, fitness and motivation, plus confidential individual sessions.

The way in which I combine counselling and hypnotherapy is very effective in helping with TRAUMA, FEAR and ANXIETY.  It is, therefore, a powerful means of working with the current challenges brought about by the Covid-19 epidemic.

I have also counselled and delivered group workshops in secondary school and with young, single mums.

I am experienced in helping clients on a wide range of difficulties including:

  • Relationships
  • Weight Loss
  • Eating Disorders
  • Stress
  • Panic Attacks
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bereavement, loss/separation
  • Redundancy and work issues
  • Addiction including alcohol, drugs, gambling and smoking
  • Self esteem/confidence

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied Psychology at University of London and went on to train as a counsellor with Relate. My core training was in Psychodynamic and Systemic Counselling. In addition I have qualified in Advanced Hypnotherapy and HypnoHealing.

* Diploma in Psychology University of London
* Certificate in Applied Psychology (Psychotherapy and Counselling) University of London

* BACP Member since 2001

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
