I am an Integrative Therapist (BABCP Accredited qualified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and qualified Counsellor) offering one to one sessions within private practice. I have a wide range of experience working with adults, young people, families and trainee Therapists. I also have expertise in post-traumatic stress disorder and child and adolescent behavioural issues.
I have worked with a variety of areas such as low self-esteem, relationship issues, work related stress, anger, bereavement, depression and anxiety, the latter including panic attacks, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and eating disorders. I predominately use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as my main treatment method. Therapists and Counsellors use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques but only those with a postgraduate diploma in CBT can call themselves a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and carry out official CBT treatment. The accreditation process through the BABCP shows those who are officially registered (www.cbtregister.com) and have undertaken this process.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a Therapist within the NHS. I also have a variety of experience working within two Doctors' surgeries (where I accept private referrals), an FE College and charities such as MIND.
In addition, I support CBT training programmes within the Cambridgeshire area and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) used in the treatment of traumatic stress. This is a highly specialist treatment that is recommended by the NHS and I am one of the few Therapists within the Cambridgeshire area that can carrry out this method.
It can be a difficult decision entering into therapy which is why I offer a safe environment in which to discuss issues that are affecting your life, with the aim of making effective lasting changes for you to become your own best Therapist. Please contact me if you would like to find out more without any obligation to book an appointment. If you do decide to book an appointment, I offer a free 30 minute consultation in order for you to decide whether the treatment process is suitable for you.
I am aware that a lot of people struggle to fit in therapy sessions around work and child care. Therefore I offer week nights and weekend day and evenings in order to be flexible.
