About me

Hello, I'm Louise.  I would like to tell you a little about my counselling practice and what I feel I can offer.

I am a psychodynamic/integrative counsellor and supervisor.

My counselling approach is psychodynamic and integrative.  I work uniquely and with each client, tailoring the counselling to individual requirements.

I offer short or long term confidential counselling for individual adults.

My therapy room is based within a private clinic, which is conveniently situated in a town centre location.  It is within walking distance from the bus and train stations and there is car parking nearby.

The room provides a calm and pleasant space for you to sit, relax and reflect.  You will be attentively listened to and will hopefully gain insight and understanding into what may be troubling you presently.

I work professionally and ethically to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) 'Ethical Framework for The Counselling Professions'.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I believe that at our deepest level, each individual has the desire and the ability to fulfil their own true potential and to re-discover their authentic self.

I also think that you, the client, are the expert on your own life and will know the best way forward for you, even if it may be difficult for you to see at this moment in time.

Counselling can help you to understand yourself more fully, using your own inner resources.

With greater self-awareness, self-belief and self-confidence, you may be able to make positive changes that can lead to a more enriched and meaningful life.
