About me

Counselling is an effective method of psychological healing that focuses on our personal style of experiencing self, others and life in general. A collaborative exploration of lived experience with an experienced counsellor serves to illuminate the wounded places inside us that require healing, as well as the process of personal growth needed to address them. The safe environment of counselling creates a compassionate space for our true self to emerge, and bestows a clarity that brings an often elusive sense of fulfilment in life into sharp focus.

I practise an integration of the person-centred, existential and transpersonal counselling models, often utilising creative means to help people access their innate resources. As my background is in Eastern spirituality, I also draw frequently on the insightful wisdom of the East.

Individuals: My emphasis in counselling individuals involves restorative emotional work that comprises a healing journey uniquely tailored to your needs. It is a gentle method that equips you with the ability to draw on your own inner wisdom to address the challenges of modern living. As our work together progresses, you will discover outdated patterns of being that have become rigid being gradually replaced with a more fluid and open flexibility.

Couples:
My style of couples counselling constitutes a unique blend of psychotherapy and spirituality, of the modern and the ancient, to explore love and intimacy as a sacred path. Over and above simply meeting one another's needs, love has a larger potential to foster a personal awakening that leads to the healthy and enriching relationships we all desire. The heartbreak we feel when our most cherished relationship is in crisis represents the ideal opportunity to discover a new way of being present with one another.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
