About me

Hello, I am an experienced therapist and I offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, where you can feel heard, cared for, free to explore your experience of life and express your thoughts and feelings about any aspect of your life that matters to you.

I am aware that, at first, you might feel anxious, confused, vulnerable or sometimes ashamed about sharing personal aspects of your life with me and my aim is to support you while you are navigating through this experience and help you deepen your understanding of yourself as we go along and begin to address the issues that have brought you to therapy.

Depending on the nature of the difficulties you are having and how long standing they are, this might mean having a quiet space to be heard and reflect on aspects of your life; trying to make sense of and process confusing or overwhelming experiences; it might also include noticing, understanding how you relate to yourself and others, identifying and challenging unhelpful patterns of behaviour, uncovering the reasons behind them and/or coming to terms with difficult or painful experiences, giving you access to a freer and more fulfilling way of living.

While most of the work takes place through talking, when appropriate, I can also offer more creative ways of working (art, play, sand tray, cards…) as sometimes it is difficult to find words that express how we feel. If this helps you to explore or communicate your experience, you may also bring your own writings, poems, drawing, music, photos or significant objects etc…

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced BACP accredited therapist (Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling) working with adults and young people (16+). I have been counselling in the Thames Valley since 2006 through a number of local organisations, providing counselling/therapy to adults and young people.

I currently run a private practice where I offer individual face to face or online short-term and long-term therapy; being bilingual, I can provide therapy in French as well as in English. I also have an interest in facilitating therapeutic groups and in using art/play to encourage self-expression.

My work experience has been with people from various backgrounds, who suffer from a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship issues, living with long term illness and/or mental health conditions, general dissatisfaction with life, work and cultural issues, expressing anger, adoption issues, transitioning into retirement, abortion, family conflicts, parenting, divorce, bullying, loneliness, learning difficulties, self-harm, fertility issues…

My personal experience of long term psychoanalytical therapy as well as my ongoing professional development means that I have a good understanding of the in-depth relating skills that are required to work with long standing and deeply seated issues.

As an accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I am bound by its ethical framework and professional standards. As a professional practice, my work is supervised by a clinical supervisor and I attend regular professional courses, workshops and group supervision to continually support and enhance my practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
