I have offices in Great Harwood, Clitheroe, Skipton, and St Annes.

I was trained by a consultant psychiatrist in an NHS setting. The training was in a form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

My early training by the psychiatrist was in teaching people ways of treating their own problems. This ethos ensures that my clients rarely need to return for more treatment. I use gentle, respectful, but persuasive techniques to influence the unconscious to bring about change. I have confidence in my clients' ability to change.

I am a generalist, dealing with a wide range of problems and circumstances, mostly associated with anxiety and/or stress. For instance, anxiety of various types, depression, relationship issues, work related stress, insomnia and many more. In addition, I specialise in the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome using hypnosis, and have a special interest in Alcohol problems.

I am a registrant of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

In the 1970s I suffered a serious problem with anxiety. Recommended by a friend I consulted a psychiatrist who put me on group psychotherapy, a treatment which was very effective in terms of my personal recovery. In addition to this however, during my group treatment I demonstrated an aptitude in the method employed, and was subsequently given the opportunity to work as a group therapist on a voluntary basis. This experience was to be the genesis of my career as a professional therapist. It also gave me a very useful insight into the problems that my clients confront.

I have an honours degree in Psychology (BSc(Hons))

A master's degree in applied psychology (MSc)

A diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DHP)

A diploma in Neuro-Linguistic Programming Master Practitioner Level (Dip NLP)

I have been working as a therapist for 34 years.
