BACP accredited counsellor offering accepting, supportive space for you to talk about what you need and be heard.  Perhaps you need to speak about living through these current times.  Perhaps it is something else you need support with.

Do you need support with workplace or personal stresses;  a bereavement, a life transition e.g. leaving home, beginning a new relationship, a change in health etc.  Perhaps support is needed for personal growth.   Are there unhelpful behaviours and beliefs that you would like to change.
Is something from your past still unresolved...................

Being heard in counselling can help you come to a deeper understanding of yourself and of what matters.

The quality of the relationship you and your Counsellor create together (known as the therapeutic alliance) plays an important part in any change. Our first meeting together gives you a sense of how you would feel working with me.

Each person is different, so at our first meeting I will listen to your counselling needs and this will inform how we may work together.   This can change over time as your needs change and as you progress.  I am experienced in working in many styles of counselling, including cognitive behavioural therapy, integrative, person centred, psychodynamic, solution focused.

My counselling experience is expansive and includes offering emotional support by telephone, Zoom, Video WhatsApp and face to face counselling.   My telephone counselling work includes ten years experience on an e.ap. helpline; 13 years working on an addiction helpline.  Since Covid I support many clients who prefer to work remotely.

Additionally I have several years voluntary counselling experience within a well known mental health charity, working face to face with clients. Clients may be referred to the charity for counselling by their g.p.'s, psychiatrists, social worker, key worker etc I offered both short term counselling and long term work here.

I have eleven years experience working in the field of smoking cessation as a counsellor and debrief facilitator so understand and am skilled in supporting people who are wanting to change addictive/unhelpful behaviours.  I hold full NCSCT certification as a smoking cessation practitioner.

Other counselling I have offered on a voluntary basis has been for a well known bereavement charity, as a student counsellor at a university, within two London Hospitals and within the voluntary sector

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
