I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, working primarily in a person-centred way. I offer a non-judgemental, confidential space to explore personal issues and develop understanding and aim to support clients in taking responsibility for their own life choices. I have a particular interest in relationship issues, bereavement, parenting, adoption counselling, and experience of working with families, adolescents and children. As a trained adoption counsellor, I have an extensive understanding of childhood trauma and attachment issues and their effect on individuals throughout their lives, as well as the impact on family life and relationships; with a specialist interest on helping parents understand the reasons behind their children's behaviour and develop coping strategies to support all family members. I also have substantial experience in working with adopted adults who are in the process of searching for birth relatives and dealing with reunion.
