I am a fully qualified Accredited and experienced counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, working within the Stockport Area. I offer counselling for a wide variety of issues including Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Childhood related issues, Depression, Grief, Mother/Daughter relationships, Parenting & Family issues including Couple Counselling to name but a few. I offer daytime and evening appointments to suit your needs.
My aim as a counsellor is to provide a caring, non-judgemental and confidential counselling service in a comfortable setting. I am passionate about my work and aim to help people make changes in their lives.
All of us experience difficulties throughout our lives or have periods when we feel overwhelmed and unable to cope. These may include bereavement, relationship issues, stress and depression. It can be difficult to talk to family and friends about these concerns, and sometimes inappropriate, this is a time when we may need to talk to someone who will listen, understand, never judge and accept us as we are.
Counselling is a talking therapy. I offer private, professional, sensitive and confidential counselling in a safe, comfortable setting for you to explore your difficulties. Providing space, support and time to reflect can help you to gain understanding and an awareness of how you are feeling now, to enable you to make changes. By discussing your concerns we can work together to unravel your thoughts and feelings and find a constructive way forward. Counselling can help you to recognise the effect of other people and their actions, and can help you to identify issues more easily helping towards personal growth.
It can be a great relief to be able to talk to someone who will confirm your feelings and help you to reach a positive solution to your problems.
I offer a secure, welcoming and confidential space in which you can be understood and valued, and where you can begin to find your own way towards how you want to be.
I believe people come to counselling in search of the changes they desire in their lives, whether it's dealing with the past, overcoming obsticles in the present, or struggling with loss or other issues.
I use an integrated approach to my work, tailoring the therapeutic approach to the needs of the client.
During our first meeting which is at a reduced cost we will discuss your expectations of counselling and what I can offer.
Some clients may only need a few sessions until they feel more able to cope with what life throws at them, others may need more sessions.
I offer counselling to trainee counsellors at a reduced rate. I understand the difficulties that trainee counsellors can encounter. The return to education can be stressful at times especially if you have a family, job, placement and supervision. Training to be a counsellor is not only time consuming but also very expensive this is why I offer counselling at a reduced rate for counsellors in training.
I also offer a reduced rate for the unemployed.

"You showed me that I am someone, that I mattered, that I am beautiful, special and a great person. You helped me through some unbearable times. You've helped me to deal with my pain properly, you've changed my way of thinking. I entered as a caterpillar and you turned me into a butterfly.
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently work in private practice and the voluntary sector where I have worked extensively with bereavement and loss, anticipatory grief, life limiting illness, all forms of abuse, anxiety and stress, and self esteem/image. I have 20 years experience of working with children and families in educational settings.
