About me

Hello, I am Wendy, thank you for reading my profile.

I have been counselling since 1998. I am a Registered Accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I have worked in many settings over the years including

  • Doctors Surgeries, - Counselling a diverse range of individuals.
  • Within voluntary agencies - meeting the needs of specific clients.
  • I managed 2 well known Young People's Counselling services respectively at different times.
  • I have counselled for Insight Healthcare (NHS Counselling Service - counselling a diverse range of individuals)
  • I was the Peterborough Regional College Counsellor for two years - Counselling students of all ages from younger to mature.
  • I presently work at Xyla Digital Therapies online who provide counselling for NHS patients, and in private practice.

I provide a professional, confidential, down to earth, sensitive, collaborative and non judgemental counselling service based Online or over the phone to individuals, and I offer a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.

I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to allow for the first initial few questions and give both you and I a sense of whether we might be able to work together.

I also offer an Initial Assessment (with a fee) and this is a chance for you to tell me what brings you to counselling, and what you want and need from counselling, you may have questions to ask me, and I will have a few more questions for you.

You are under no obligation to continue counselling after the initial assessment, however if we both feel we connect and can work together, then we can arrange weekly sessions (recommended for continuity and consistency) initially. These can be modified with discussion together, later.

I offer short, medium or long term counselling.
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
Fees are £50 per 50 minute session (see further down the page for more details)

I work in a very fluid way, getting to know you and tailoring the counselling to your needs. I am trained integratively and work in a Person Centred way, but I can also help you link to your past, if you choose and can help support you with techniques and ways of supporting yourself in the present.

I will encourage you to be aware of how you feel on many levels so you can become holistically self-aware.

I can help you connect and make sense of things, with options to work in other ways such as painting, drawing, (you do not need to be an artist or feel you have to meet certain levels, just express yourself as you need).

I will help you become aware of how your body responds to your emotions, and how you feel as a whole person.

I will not judge you and will help you to not judge yourself in the process as we are all human.

I attend regular continued professional development. These trainings influence the way I work and further advance my development and update my skills. This all helps create a richness to what I can offer you.

  • I am an Accredited member of and work within the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist's code of ethics and Framework.
  • I am trained to counsel Online
  • I am fully insured
  • I am registered with the Information Registers Office (IRO)
  • I hold a regularly updated Enhanced DBS certificate.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
