I am a senior accredited Psychotherapistand Counsellor (16 years post-qualification) based in Wimbledon, S.W. London. My consulting room is a short 10 mins walk from Wimbledon station, or from South Wimbledon underground. As a therapist, my aim is to help bring about positive change, in whatever areas of your life that you may be having difficulties.
It might be a recent problem affecting personal or work relationships, in which case a period of focused shorter-term work may be most helpful, from 8-24 sessions, with agreed goals to develop understanding and coping strategies.
On the other hand many of the people I see have had periods of depression and anxiety recurring at different stages of their lives, and they may finally want to look more deeply at the underlying causes that negatively affect self-esteem and hinder the realization of true potential. In this case I offer more open-ended psychotherapy in a safe and trusting setting. My approach integrates the here-and-now (Humanistic) with exploration of the root causes in the past (Psychodynamic).
If you would like to arrange an initial consultation please contact me on 0208 417 1687 or firstname.lastname@example.org This first session will clarify what the issues are, and what approach might help, and also whether we can work together. There is no obligation to continue unless you wish to do so.
I am a full member of the UKCP and the UKAHPP, and work to their strict ethical guidelines.
Training, qualifications & experience
My initial training was at the Whittington Hospital, N. London, and I have both a Post-graduate Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy. I am fully accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the United Kingdom Association of Humanistic Psychotherapy Practitioners (UKAHPP).
I have wide experience of working in Healthcare in both the public and private sectors over 16 years, 8 of which were in the field of addictions. I have worked in the NHS as a Public Health Advisor, and as an Honorary Psychotherapist and Clinical Assessor, and as an external consultant with psychiatric outpatients. I also teach psychotherapy and counseling to trainees, and I am a visiting lecturer and/or consult to several counselling and psychotherapy training courses in London.
I have also completed additional trainings in Creative Group Work, Smoking Cessation Counselling, Telephone Counselling, and Story Stem Assessment Profiling (for children).
My private practice allows me to work with people from all walks of life, with a very wide range of presenting problems.
