About me

Thank you for spending some time looking at my profile. I hope I can help you.
I have been working as a psychotherapist for 30 years and really enjoy my work; travelling along side my clients enabling them to see themselves more clearly, understanding who they are, can sometimes begin to provide a meaning to their lives.
My experience shows me that our early life experiences can often inform the problems we are experiencing now. We can often get stuck in a way of responding to problems, whether they are in work, with family, relationships or with ourselves, which are no longer helpful because the response is rooted in early childhood.
Psychotherapy, by enabling you becoming more aware of yourself and the baggage you are carrying can give you more choices and the freedom ultimately to be your self.
I am dyslexic so am particularly interested in how this experience effects us. I also have a spiritual practice so including the spirit within my work is always an option but far from being essential.
I offer a free initial session of 50 minutes to give us time to meet each other and see if we want to work together. I call this window shopping. Please call me if you think I can help you. You will more than likely get an answer machine, I will ring you back as soon as I can. If you prefer email me and then I can arrange to speak to you on the phone to set a time and date to meet you.
I am happy to work on the phone once I have met you.

The effects of dyslexia

Mid -life Crisis; this term is often banded about without having any real understanding about the process that is happening here. Just a few thoughts this relational issue:

  • This is a completely natural developmental process during adult hood, the the same way the 'terrible twos' are and the adolescent rebellion.
  • Men and women have mid life crises
  • It is terrifying for all involved because it often puts our financial and emotional security at risk and life suddenly seems very fragile.
  • Because this process is so frightening we often try to take control and make very quick decisions- leave, have the affair, ask our partner to go
  • and because the process is a natural developmental process those couples that can sit it out often end up with a far more fulfilling relationship than before. And this takes courage and help from a therapist is often essential.
  • Couples of course can work together through this crisis but often it is less painful if they see individual therapists that understand this process. This is because each person needs the room to explore their fantasies and actions safely away from the other person. Sometimes it is not helpful to wash our dirt washing in the middle of a relationship.
  • If I can be of any help please get in touch.

Fees

I charge £45 for individuals, £60 for couples and if your work is paying £55 for individuals, £70 for couples. I have two spaces where the fee is negotiable.
