I am a qualifed and experienced counsellor who offers both short and long term counselling to individuals, couples and children. I have dealt with a large spectrum of emotional difficulties such as self-esteem, anxiety, stress, depression, OCD, spirituality, marriage, eating disorders, loss of meaing in life, identity issues and deprivation. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment so that clients can explore painful and difficult emotions and offer them the opportunity to move beyond them. I have a consulting room in a private practice.
I work with both adults and adolescents and have several years of experience of working with children who have emotional and behaviuoral issues.
When I work with children I mainly use creative art materials and work with therapeutic play skills as children express themselves through play.
I have experience of working within organisations such as counselling agencies, CAMHS multi disciplinary family therapy teams, schools and sheltered accomodation for vulnerable people.
I also work with young adults who are experiencing relationship dificulties and self esteem issues.
Languages: English and Yiddish
I use my awareness to increase my understanding of what takes place between myself and my client. I believe that to use the core conditions successfully a therapist must have self - awareness. When I feel empathy it's about feeling with the client and I also need to think who does my feeling belong to - is it mine or the clients? When I am congruent I need to be self -aware of who I am to be able to be open and real to the client.
I focus on the clients gaining insight into the difficulties they face. I explore the clients emotions and significant events in their lives and I intend to help them develop or find appropriate methods of managing.
