Sam (Sandra) Dring MBACP
107-111 Fleet Street
City Of London
I'm a qualified integrative counsellor and I've been helping people through talking therapies for 19 years. I provide a space for you to speak to an objective person outside your day-to-day environment and to be really listened to. Part of my role is to help you make sense of your particular issues and the personal meaning you place on this and help you find new ways to relate to yourself, other people and situations. I support clients to gain more self awareness and ultimately to work towards a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
I'm bound by the BACP code of ethics and committed to clinical excellent.
I work with adults, young people and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period. I often initially suggest 6 sessions, working collaboratively and deciding a goal we wish to reach, thereafter we review our progress and decide if more sessions are required.
Training, qualifications & experience
Master of Counselling 2004
EMDR Level 1
Certificate in Lifespan Integration
Certificate in Counselling 1996
For the last 8 years I've worked freelance in The City, in Fleet Street, where I see a whole range of clients who work in banking, lawyers, barristers, support workers and people in the marketing world.
Many of the issues such as anxiety, relationship problems, anxiety disorder which can lead into bouts of panic can be linked to the long hours they work and not having time to consider or value their personal life enough. Much of the work is around helping clients understand their needs and how they can be met.
My clients have included referrals from Employment Assisted Programmes, where I help corporate employees through personal difficulties, working on a short-term basis, usually 6 sessions.
2003-2006 I worked for Victim Support, counselling victims of crime.
1992-96 Trained as a counsellor in Hong Kong
After qualifying I worked in a counselling practice in Hong Kong, where my clients were from very different economic and ethnic backgrounds: Chinese, Western, Filipino, Indonesian and Indian. I also worked in a Women's refuge for migrant workers, where I counselled individuals and took workshops in assertiveness training and self esteem.
Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with
One of the techniques I use is Lifespan Integration, a new approach to resolving deep-seated difficulties such as anxiety, depression, generalised anxiety disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This technique produces results at a considerably faster rate than talking therapies. If you would like to know more about this therapy please click on these links: www.lifespanintegration.com/
I charge £70 per session, sessions last 1 hour.
In the case of clients on a lower income I will negotiate a lower fee.
'Sam has been a fantastic influence in my life over the past two years. She has a very calm and patient presence and looks to find the root of an issue in order to create lasting change. I regularly find that our conversations provide me with new perspectives, that help to sustain my wellbeing on a day to day basis and I have become much more self aware as a result'
Right now I'm the happiest I've been in my life and a large part of that is to do with seeing Sam and using the counselling process. It was something that I knew in the back of my head I should do for years, but it was only when a combination of personal and professional events knocked me for six that I knew I needed to do it. Sam made what I thought would be a horrible and difficult process into an incredibly positive lifechanging one. She is warm and easy to talk to. She listens to everything you have to say and puts a lot of time and effort both inside and outside sessions to understand the discussion and in coming up with the words that help move the issues on. By doing this, over the months we worked together everything in my life started to shift and change in ways that I can't begin to explain, for that I am very grateful for!'
'A lot of things in my life have changed for the better through seeing Sam. I felt very cared about, and that taught me to care more about myself and be more confident in what I was feeling and what I needed. Having that ongoing support and perspective helped me follow through with the changes I was trying to make. It was also helpful to talk openly about things without being judged, and to have some assumptions about what was going on in my life challenged. The process has made me much more able to cope with my own emotions and challenges, and people close to me have noticed this'
