About me

I am an experienced, qualified and committed counsellor/psychotherapist based close to Guildford and Godalming with Haslemere and Cranleigh within 10 minutes.

I have many years experience in counselling and mediation, working with clients (individuals and couples) aged from 8 years to 78 years.

I use an integrative approach focussing very much on the relationship between client and therapist built around trust, respect, safety and empowerment.

I use the most appropriate approach suitable for your individual needs and one that looks after your whole self.

I work with a number of issues including:

  • Relationship issues
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Lack of meaning or direction
  • Childhood issues
  • Stress
  • Loss
  • Trauma
  • Body image

"My view of counselling has changed so much after our time spent together. I still at times find it difficult to reflect on the journey I have made and issues I have overcome. I am so truly grateful for your patience and at times when needed suggestions, to point me in the right direction to reflect" D Godalming

I offer a safe, warm and confidential environment. Together we will find the best approach for you, that may well be short term or long term therapy.

Counselling offers you the opportunity to find that space and time to explore your inner thoughts and feelings without being judged. Being listened to and heard is so important to encourage you in finding solutions to those troublesome issues.

By working together you can regain control of your life and realise your true worth and potential.

I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and am bound by it's Ethical Framework for good practice.

My Surrey based counselling practice for children, young people, adults and couples is within easy reach of Guildford, Godalming, Haslemere, Cranleigh, Milford, Witley and Chiddingfold and very accessible from the A3.

"Thank you for your support and guidance over the last 18 months. My life has been transformed due to our work together, and things can only get better still" B Guildford

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

HOW DO I KNOW COUNSELLING IS FOR ME AND I AM READY?

You will know or have a pretty good idea that you are ready to let someone else in who won't judge you but will help you work through those issues you can't seem to address on your own. To assist with this an initial meeting will be mutually arranged to ensure you feel safe and comfortable.

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

You can either ring me on 07766655520 OR e-mail me on: paul.noke@btinternet.com to agree a mutually convenient time for an assessment to help decide if counselling is the right path for you. I am easy to find and within a few minutes from Guildford, Godalming and Haslemere.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is very dependent on your needs and commitment to change. It may be you only need a few sessions to make sense of what is going on for you OR it may take you longer to build a relationship based on trust, respect and safety due to a lack of these in your life. At the same time, it is helpful for us to agree mutually in advance when the counselling will end so that we have time to bring things to a close.

HOW OFTEN ARE THE SESSIONS?

Sessions are usually weekly and last for 50 minutes (for couples it's 60 minutes). By mutual agreement, we will arrange a day and time which then becomes your 'personal space' for counselling. This will only be changed by further mutual agreement.
