Profile
You may feel a wealth of emotions at the idea of starting counselling. I recognise your courage in seeking support, and will do all I can to help you feel comfortable and safe during counselling. As a counsellor my role is to provide space for you to be yourself, where you feel heard, valued, respected and supported.
I am BACP accredited and UKRC registered.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
My initial training was as a Humanistic and Existential counsellor. Since then, I have become an Integrative counsellor, working in whatever way feels right for the client. The focus may be practical or spiritual; the impetus comes from you. I have been counselling now for over ten years, and find my work very rewarding. For several years before that I taught and offered pastoral support in secondary schools. I then worked as a counsellor with teenagers for an education authority, where anger management was one of the focus points, and now I run a private practice for adults, couples, young people and families from my home in Oxford.
I have worked extensively in the fields of couples counselling, loss and bereavement, anxiety, depression and eating disorders.
I also have a wide range of experience with people and the families of people who have Aspergers Syndrome Condition.
I am a fully accredited counsellor: a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors. I abide by the Code of Ethics published by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
