I work with individuals, couples and children. I also work with families, to assist with relationship breakdowns and any other problems they may be experiencing.
The type of therapy I use to help you is intervention, using different models to guide you through understanding of your present situation. These models are CBT, Person Centred, Psychodynamics and Transactional Analysis, which all allow a personal therapy plan that is best for you.
I have worked with many clients, who present different types of issues including Abuse, Depression, Anxiety & Panic Attacks, Confidence - Low Self Esteem and Self Worth, Relationship Difficulties, Issues from Childhood, Bereavement, Illness, Alcohol and Drug Addiction.
My specialties are:
- Anger Management
- All Types of relationship problems (both couple and individual)
- Stress, Anxiety, and Panic Attacks
- Eating Disorders.
Depression can cause you to feel very isolated, very quickly. The bedroom or your home becomes the only place you can hide. So leaving this safe place can feel very overwhelming. It stops you enjoying mixing with others and socialising can become a non entity.
But there is light at the end of your very dark tunnel because Counselling will assist you to understand and control the thoughts and feelings you're expriencing which cause the depression.
You will learn new coping mechanisms using CBT therapy to undertand your thought process. You will learn why while suffering depression, you feel lost, in a bubble or locked in a very dark cave.
You will grow steadily, taking tiny productive steps, that would lead to you either overcoming depression or controlling it.
Your therapy will be taken at your pace, with complete support and guidance, you will never be judged.
Relationships are affected due to a breakdown in communication, understanding and compromise. You may feel frustrated, trapped, unsupported or misunderstood. You may be feeling less connected to your partner and worry about the future. Counselling may be the step you need, to help you understand the reasons why you feel the way you do and what has caused the present situation your relationship.
Bereavement Counselling helps you to understand all the emotions you're feeling are normal.
When we lose a loved one, someone we connected strongly too, we can find ourselves feeling very lost and empty.
Shock and denial are the first emotions, followed by anger which we then feel guilt for feeling so angry. Sometimes we yearn or search for the ones we've lost., We may stop socialising as we feel life will never be the same again. Counselling will help guide you through and help you learn to live with your loss.
When you attend a consultation and follow on sessions for whatever your issue may be. You are given a safe, confidential place for you to express then explore your problems, thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I will help you work through your issue, assist you to learn and understand, who you are and who you want to become.
You will gain new insights to the reasons you felt out of sorts, which will then enable you to move forward in your life positively.
Sometimes the need to talk to someone is often thought about, but not always followed through. It can be very difficult to talk to a partner, family member or friend about things that are affecting us.
We hold ourselves back, from expressing how we really feel, from fear of being a burden or causing worry to them or in some cases, fear of making the problem worse.
Contacting me may feel daunting and a large step to take, but it may well be the best thing you ever did.
Many people think contacting a counsellor means you've failed. This isn't so, you've just asked for help from someone who is qualified in all issues and is neutral and there to help.
Your counselling sessions take place, in a specially allocated room in my private practise. Complete confidentiality is given in a place where you can express without feeling judged in any way. You will find me, very emphatic, supportive, understanding - someone you can trust.
I will encourage you to talk at your own pace, only touching on areas you feel comfortable discussing at the time. We will work together in exploring your concerns.
