About me

I am a psychotherapist with over twenty years experience trained in the Transactional Analysis Model of Psychotherapy.

I believe in the unique value of each individual, encouraging each client to explore their life issues in a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship. Integrity and confidentiality is always assured.

I will help you, the client, to apply the insights gained from the therapeutic process to everyday life and relationships.

What is the ultimate goal of therapy? It is greater self-awareness; having a clear perception of your personality, including your strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions.

Self-awareness allows you to understand other people and how they perceive you. Self-awareness allows you to understand your attitudes and your responses to the situations around you, in each moment.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am an Ordained Minister with thirty years experience in Pastoral Ministry and I offer confidential Christian Counselling to people within the faith community.

I can help clients with their recovery, including those who have experienced spiritual abuse  and trauma due to an unhealthy church culture, authoritarian leadership, Cultic Churches , communities and groups.

Spiritual abuse involves coercion, control, or exploitation by another person in a spiritual context. It can come from a faith leader or a partner who uses spiritual or religious beliefs or doctrine to exert power over you. Spiritual abuse can involve verbal, emotional, and/or physical violence.

Just like physical scars, spiritual abuse can leave emotional and mental scars and impact your Christian faith. With on-going therapy, I can help you, the  client, to become emotionally and spiritually healthy.

I  work with Church leaders to help them  create a healthy church culture that will benefit  leadership and the congregation.
