I am a warm, caring, experienced counsellor. I also work as a supervisor, careers consultant/life coach and have been working in these fields for nearly 20 years in Gwent and the Cardiff area. I am currently working towards BACP accreditation.
I have many years experience of face to face and telephone counselling; I have counselled for BBC, NHS, Further Education, a local charity for which I am on the Management Committee and I have a small private practice. I have worked with many issues including:
- self esteem
- bereavement and loss
- anxiety, stress
- eating disorders
- the big picture
I offer careers counselling in a range of settings including factories, offices, prisons, working with issues such as redundancy, unemployment, lack of job satisfaction or career focus.
I particularly enjoy working with couples but also enjoy working with individuals of all ages, with a wide variety of issues. I also enjoy supervising other counsellors or professionals, either 1:1 or in groups.
I believe the counselling relationship is key and I aim to provide a warm, supporting environment where I hope you will feel accepted and where trust can develop. With that trust in place, we can work together to explore your issues and help you to move forward.

My aim is to give you, my client, my whole attention so that we can build a strong therapeutic relationship based on acceptance and trust, where you feel safe to talk freely and share your feelings and thoughts without being judged; where you can explore new ideas and ways of responding to the world which may be more helpful and rewarding for you.
Counselling is a 'talking' therapy - there's no magic here. It can be hugely rewarding but it can also feel risky and is sometimes challenging. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and develop. It takes courage and determination. For some, change happens rapidly; for others it is a much longer process. For a few, it's not the right time or the client is not ready so counselling has to be postponed. I have immense respect for all my clients and will try to understand your particular issues and offer you support on your particular 'journey', however long it takes.
I take a basic Humanist, Person Centred approach to counselling, into which I blend theory and practice from other disciplines such as Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural therapies according to need.
I am currently able to offer sessions in Cardiff and Newport.
