About me

I am an Integrative BACP Accredited and Registered Counsellor.   I have over 20 years counselling experience and offer a confidential service working with both individual adults and couples in my private practice. I offer both open ended and short term work.

I am also a qualified supervisor and offer supervision of clinical practice for  qualified counsellors/psychotherapists.

People from all walks of life come to counselling for many different reasons. It can be a big decision to come but one that can change your life. It might be that you are experiencing a crisis in your life or perhaps a change in personal or professional circumstances which might be difficult and distressing for you.  You might be struggling with difficult or unexplained emotions from the present or the past such as anger, frustration, fear, sadness, hopelessness or loneliness.  These feelings might be impacting on your capacity to live or enjoy your life in the way you would like.  You might be experiencing difficulties in relationships with others and noticing that certain patterns of behaviour keep repeating leading to similar outcomes. Or, you might be unsure of what you are looking for but just feel unfulfilled in some way and would like to have a better understanding of yourself to help you move forward in your life in a more satisfying way.

I can offer you a safe, confidential space where whatever your reasons for seeking counselling will be heard, respected and valued.  Together we will think about what you are bringing, work on what you are bringing in a way that is most helpful to you with the aim of helping you get to a better place within yourself, with a deeper understanding of how you want your life to be and how to get there.

If you feel I might be of help to you then please get in touch, I would be pleased to hear from you. We would then make a time to meet for an initial consultation session so we can meet each other. I can then find out a bit more about you and what you would like from counselling and you can get a better sense of me and whether you feel we could work together. We can then decide a way forward from there.

Training, qualifications & experience

My main Qualifications in Counselling are:

BA ( Hons) Integrative Counselling
WPF Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling

I also have many more qualifications that I have gained undertaking shorter trainings in specialist subjects for continued professional development which is a requirement of my profession. 30 hours of CPD are required each year.

I have worked as a counsellor in a college, a generalist counselling service (Basingstoke counselling service) and a work based counselling service for employees (Hampshire County Council). I currently work in private practice. I am also an experienced trainer in counselling and a supervisor.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
