About me

As a relational psychotherapist I can help you make tangible changes that will positively impact your way of being - in relation to yourself, others and your wider world.

  • Is your head is full of thoughts endlessly chasing one another around?
  • Do the same worries rear their heads over and over again, making it hard for you to think straight?

If so it could be because you’re still trying to manage life in ways you devised long ago that have become habitual but are no longer serving you well.

I work with issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Burnout and loss of creativity

Specialisations
I have a particular interest in life’s transitions.

These can be sudden and unexpected such as:

  • The forming or dissolution of relationships
  • Changed or lost employment

Or approach more gradually as in the case of:

  • The empty nest feeling when children leave home
  •  The social isolation that can accompany  ageing
  • Losing a sense of purpose upon retirement

We all have to confront challenging new situations from time to time but trying to do so alone can feel overwhelming.

I know from experience that psychotherapy has lasting benefits and the potential to support and enable us to live a fulfilling life.

Everyone is different but we all want to be understood, appreciated, and feel a sense of connection and belonging.

 sessions
I offer sessions by telephone or Zoom  for clients who, for whatever reason, are unable to travel to see me.

Duration
For brief, solution-focused therapy I normally offer 6-12 sessions in which we would concentrate on a specific issue.

Longer-term work with deeper, more fundamental issues would be on an open-ended basis.

Other Services
In addition to the above I also offer:

Clinical Supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors, psychotherapists and others in the helping professions

Academic Assistance to trainee counsellors and psychotherapists for whom English is not their first language

MA/PhD Dissertation Supervison and my experience as 'research mentor'

I would be happy to talk to you about counselling, psychotherapy or any of the other services I offer so please contact me:

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
