Frances Stobbs MBACP UKCP
You are probably reading this because you are facing a challenge in your life which you are finding difficult. It may be that you are feeling depressed and/or anxious or finding it a struggle to manage. Would you like the opportunity to talk with someone about painful feelings or experiences, which may involve study or work or relationships? Perhaps this is a time for personal growth. It is possible that a particular anniversary and/or the Christmas period may bring back uncomfortable feelings which have been buried.
I offer a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space where we can explore your emotions, thoughts and behaviour that may cause difficulties in your current life and relationships, or blockages in your desire to grow. These may have been influenced by patterns set up in your childhood. With curiosity and kindness, we would endeavour to uncover those patterns which you might not be aware of, with a view to enabling you to understand yourself better. This is likely to affect how you feel about yourself and to allow you to make conscious choices about how you respond to situations. Some mindfulness and cognitive behavioural practices may help to still your mind and add perspective.
I had a lot of change including house and school moves in my early life experience which I hope can be used to help others explore their own experiences of significant change.
I work on an open-ended or time-limited basis with clients over the age of 16. In short-term counselling, say over 12 sessions, it is often possible to address a particular area and focus on that. This may draw attention to matters which need deeper and longer work and we can discuss how best to address those in the course of our work together. I do not see clients during the months June to September inclusive and we would discuss the best arrangements for you as a client during the initial consultation sessions.
It is very important that you feel safe with your counsellor in exploring what you want to bring so I suggest we meet for an initial session to decide whether it is right for you to work with me and indeed whether counselling is right for you now. Please telephone or email me and I will contact you to arrange an initial consultation.
