About me

Hi, I am Elizabeth and I am an experienced Psychotherapist for more than 24 years, working with individuals, couples, families, students and trainee counsellors. Helping my clients to learn to trust themselves, leading to self-worth and confidence, I offer a confidential, safe and warm environment in order for clients to resolve their issues.

There are times when everyone needs some space and somebody to listen to them objectively, with acceptance and without judgement. Counselling/ Psychotherapy with me provides this space.

After extensive training in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, I am able to offer tailor-made therapy in order to meet each clients needs, regardless of the issue.

I feel the Integrative approach allows me the flexibility of use of all the disciplines that Psychotherapy has to offer, thus allowing the therapy to be fluid. I work both face2face and online look forward to inviting you in to my warm therapeutic space.

Working online also provides the clients with the ability to not have to choose their therapist geographically. I am happy to use any mode to connects with clients that they choose. This is an effective and convenient way to have your session and I have worked this way for years as many of my clients travel.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Students

Through working at Barnet Young People Services for 7 years, I found that there was a growing no. of students who were experiencing anxiety and fears due to transitioning to either college or University. The students I have worked with have found the work I do very beneficial. Those taking on the next big passage of a change in their lives can need some help to relieve the feeling this change produces in order for them to look forward, whether it's 6 form college or Cambridge.

Relationships

Relationships can be difficult, I work with my clients towards resolving a conflict between not only spouses and partners, but also other family members, as well as issues in the workplace and/or socially. Resolution can be achieved with or without the other person in the room.

Coaching

Coaching can deal with problems in both work and personal life and works in much the same way as Counselling. I focus on helping my clients find triggers and solutions to whatever the issue is. This can be done in as little as 3 sessions.

Dogs

I also work with people who would like to leave their fear of dogs at the door.

Client Testimonial #1

I was incredibly impressed by Elizabeth’s knowledge in many different types of therapy. Her insight into the way I was feeling was staggering, and she would always quickly find a way to help me understand and evaluate my own thoughts and feelings, so we could work on changing the behaviours I had grown up with that I was unhappy with. Elizabeth’s knowledge of numerous techniques meant it was always possible for her try different things and focus on the ones that worked best for me.

Working with Elizabeth, and it is a partnership where you both work together, was so incredibly rewarding for me. I am a much happier and healthier person thanks to Elizabeth and the work we did together, and she has provided me with tools to help me throughout the rest of my life. I feel incredibly lucky that from an Internet search I choose Elizabeth to be my counsellor.

Client Testimonial #2

We would like to thank you for helping us through a most stressful time in our lives as a couple. Your advice was immensely helpful and we are I a much better place. We also had a surprisingly smooth transition from a family of 3 to a family of 4 and would like to give you credit for that. We still have work to do but for now go and see were that takes us! If you ever need a recommendation please let us know. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Client Testimonial #3

Seeing Elizabeth has helped me significantly. I was going through a really tough time in my life and decided to seek therapy. I had always felt skeptical about therapy but it's been the best thing I've ever done in my life. My time during therapy with Elizabeth was tremendously helpful, I finally realised that the abuse I went through as a child wasn't my fault and learnt so much about myself. By the end of our sessions I didn't feel the guilt and blame that I'd been feeling for so many years. I now feel stronger and at peace with myself, my anxieties are no longer and I thank Elizabeth for guiding me to find ME . I saw Elizabeth for an hour every week for nearly 12 months and I can't stress enough how much that short period has changed my life for the better.
Thank you
