About me

I don't know whether you are reading this because you feel anxious, depressed or stressed, whether you want to be liberated from an addiction or phobia, or whether you are seeking a more fulfilling relationship or life.

I do know, however, that people want different things from a therapist, and you might want to explore whether I can provide what you want and need. There is substantial evidence that counselling and psychotherapy can offer you effective help. I am NHS trained and have worked in a NHS clinic.

You may find that you can move forward in the ways you desire.

ANXIETY, STRESS AND DEPRESSION.
These are the main reasons why you might seek a consultation. They can occur separately or in combination, and can cause severe distress which therapy can alleviate or even remove.

ADDICTIONS
Addictions seem on the increase. In addition to heroin, cocaine and other recreational drugs, there are addictions to alcohol, sex and the Internet. Addictions respond to exploratory, cognitive and holistic approaches; trying to achieve a more satisfying life and reducing shame are also important. Specific behavioural suggestions help. As with all therapy, an encouragement of an attitude of compassion towards the self is beneficial.

ANGER
Anger can prevent people from enjoying their lives and making enduring and satisfying relationships. I offer anger management based upon both cognitive and exploratory approaches.

PHOBIAS
These can be tackled with cognitive approaches, including graded exposure. I also believe that understanding how they arose and their symbolic meaning assists, as can working on basic feelings of low self-esteem and insecurity.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy provides a space to consider and reflect on yourself and your life. It gives you the chance, if you wish, to explore the links between your personal history and the difficulties and opportunities with which you are now faced.

You can see therapy as a chance to listen to yourself, your thoughts and feelings, and engage compassionately and freshly with them. As an Integrative therapist, I believe in using theories as a set of possibilities; what matters is what might help you.

COUPLES COUNSELLING
Here is some encouraging news: the evidence suggests couples' counselling works. Not infallibly, of course-much depends on you. At first, it may seem to make things worse, as the evaded issues are addressed, but so long as you remember to celebrate every sign of progress, however small, you can move forward.

PSYCHOSEXUAL THERAPY
Psychosexual therapy can help with all manner of sexual difficulties and issues. You may have difficulties with desire, erections or pain. Sexual addictions, including ones in which the Internet can feature, are real and quite common. You may experience questions around sexual identity and sexual orientation. You may have experienced sexual abuse.

ABOUT ME
Your therapy will be about you but here's a little about me. I'm married, interested in music and the Arts, enjoy photography, and am learning to play the piano. I like walking my dog and I run and swim. I love reading, and modern technology. It is important to me to be professional, but I'm occasionally quirky, and a sense of humour surfaces from time to time. My favourite saying is 'We're only human'.

I work in Harley Street, Central London and from my home on the South Coast in Bexhill-on-Sea. To learn more visit www.anderidatherapyltd.com. You are, obviously, welcome to discuss with me before any meeting.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.Sc. in Psychotherapy; Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy (including couples counselling for relationship issues in general as well as all sexual issues including abuse and sexuality); Advanced Diploma in Educational Psychology; Diploma in Counselling; Diploma in Eating Disorders. I also have a degree in English.
Having lectured in counselling theory I have knowledge and experience of working with anger management, depression, anxiety, addictions, low self esteem and stress. In addition to the conventional approaches I have also developed a fresh approach to working with obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD) and phobias.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
