Paul Mallott MBPS BSc - Children/Adolescents/Adults and Clinical Supervision
I currently work as a high intensity CBT therapist in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) NHS prior to this I was employed as high intensity counsellor in NHS Adult IAPT service, specialist in depression, anxiety, OCD. I am an accredited counsellor and member of British Psychological Society MBPS. I have over 11 years experience, and highly effective in offering my intervention to assist individuals in overcoming the barriers to which they are affected, my client feedback and professional endorsements will support the latter. I hold a current enhanced DBS to work with vulnerable Individuals, and experienced in aspects of safeguarding and child protection.
I offer effective face to face or Group counselling in the East Midlands region, along with Nationwide telephone, Email, SKYPE Audio/Video Intervention, to Children Adolescents and Adults affected with mental health conditions.
My aim is to help you and help keep you safe, and to provide you with life skills to overcome the issues to which you are affected, I have qualifications to practice, but more importantly I have my own experience of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, etc to which I have overcome, this personal experience of mental health makes me naturally empathic, I will offer you a value for money service.
Why not let me help you?
Together we can face your issues, I will listen to what you have to say, not judge, criticize, or tell you what you should do, but together look at new ways and possibilities, and if you are happy, teach you new skills, give you the tools to deal with your problems more effectively.
How can I help?
I strongly hold the belief, that the basic aim of therapy is to get you to a place where you feel comfortable and are moving forward without therapy, and as such will stay with you through to outcomes and mutually agreed Goals. For many years I have helped hundreds of individuals back to well-being and always achieved positive outcomes.
I don't have the answers, I will not give you advice. But based on my training and experience, I will get a really good sense of what's going on for you and help you to move forward in a safe, non-judgemental, confidential and professional manner. I am able to get a good sense of what is going on for you, because I only offer my intervention in areas to which I have had personal Life experience and overcome.
I am able to offer you a choice of many interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
The benefit of using CBT are many, its methods are direct, it is challenging, but the important aspect is such that together with my help you will learn new skills to confront your issues and not just to lock them away, for them to re-appear at a later date. Please be aware that CBT often involves reading and homework tasks, such as practising and completing skills between sessions, which are normally 50 minutes in duration.
Person Centred or Humanistic Therapy
One major difference between humanistic counsellors and other therapists is that they refer to those in therapy as 'clients', not 'patients'. This is because they see the therapist and client as equal partners rather than as an expert treating a patient.
Unlike other therapies the client is responsible for improving his or her life, not the therapist. This is a deliberate change from both psychoanalysis and behavioural therapies where the patient is diagnosed and treated by a doctor. Instead, the client consciously and rationally decides for themselves what is wrong and what should be done about it. The therapist is more of a friend or counsellor who listens and encourages on an equal level.
