Counselling can be life changing - it can help you find new ways of thinking and behaving that will help you deal with issues that are difficult for you. Counselling can improve your confidence and can make you question how and why you think and behave as you do. Jill will support a process which allows you to explore your feelings and life situations in a way you may never have done before.
Working from comfortable, professional offices in Chester city centre and Wrexham, Jill offers a counselling experience that can help you find new ways to deal with difficult and challenging feelings and emotions; life experiences and situations.
What you bring to counselling will be unique and so the number of sessions required will vary with each individual. This will be discussed at your first session and will be entirely at your own pace, booking each session week by week.

Alcohol & Drug Problems & Addiction
Jiill has in-depth experience of working in the addiction field, with clients with all forms of addiction including alcohol, drugs, prescription medication, gambling and obsessive behaviour.
A placement at The Priory Hospital established an excellent grounding in working with these issues and her continuing work at a residential drug and alcohol treatment centre has allowed Jill to build a solid understanding and empathic approach in this area.
For some people, the use of alcohol may have become an issue in their lives but they would not call it an addiction or alcoholism. Many people use alcohol at times of stress and then find it hard to put it down - that it becomes a more and more important part of life; that it starts to cost you more than money (perhaps it is starting to cause arguments at home or difficulties at work). Asking for help or even acknowledging that drinking has become a problem can be a daunting prospect - counselling with Jill will be discreet, safe and confidential.
Others will already be acutely aware of their addiction to alcohol but just not know what to do about it. You may have tried to stop before but not be able to 'stay stopped'. This counselling will offer you the chance to look closely at the issue and affect is having on your life. Together we will work on plans to make the changes you want - and again, it is important that every client feels that this counselling is safe, confidential and discreet. This process will not be judgemental nor will it be critical, it is vital that the client feels accepted in this counselling process and that there is a real chance for change. To be able to feel some hope.
Whilst working in this field, Jill has also gained experience of working with the families and loved ones of alcoholics and addicts. Their own lives can be seriously affected by the actions of the alcoholic/addict and frequently they feel as if they have no-one to turn to - that they have tried everything but nothing ever changes. Jill offers counselling to anyone whose life is affected by the drinking or addiciton of another person.
Couples & Relationship Counselling
This is available for couples who would like support with issues within their relationship. In a completely non-judgemental environment, Jill will help you explore your relationship, perhaps in a new way that will allow you to express yourself in a safe way. Perhaps to say words you have never said before and perhaps to listen to a point of view you have never heard before.
The first session will establish the boundaries (ie the 'ground rules' for sessions) and what each individual hopes to achieve through counselling. Both parties need to feel their value in these sessions and both need to be heard. Couples counselling can be a hugely positive step to take at a difficult time in a relationship.
