Profile
I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist offering short or long-term therapy to individuals and couples. We can all feel overwhelmed and burdened by life's experiences, both past and present. Sometimes these burdens can become too much to cope with. At such times it can help to talk through your problems in an environment of safety and respect.
I am experienced in working with a wide spectrum of issues, from bereavement and relationship issues to problems with addiction and anger management. I can offer short-term counselling for clients who wish to look at a specific issue or longer-term psychotherapy for those who wish to look at more complex issues at a deeper level.
Research has proved that it is the relationship between client and therapist which is fundamental for a successful outcome. It is therefore imperative that you find the right therapist for you.
In general I work in an existential-phenomenological way which means that I work with whatever issues are affecting the day-to-day existence of my clients. I have also trained in psychoanalytic, integrative and CBT modalities and sometimes use a more integrative approach depending on what is the cause of distress for an individual client.
One of the main aims of existential therapy is to bring true understanding to the experiences encountered in life and to examine the effect of these experiences.
I offer a safe, caring environment with great emphasis placed on understanding and respect.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
My professional experience has been gained working as a counsellor for the NHS in general practice and at the Royal London Hospital. I also worked as a counsellor at the bereavement charity Cruse and as a psychotherapist and counsellor in my own private practice. Through these positions I have become experienced in working with a vast array of human issues and experiences.
Before training and working as a psychotherapist I worked in the commercial world first as an advertising executive and then as a management consultant. I think my commercial experience has given me an insight into the stressful lives that many of my clients lead.
