About me
Here at Transitions Counselling I offer short and long term Counselling and Psychotherapy at £60-65 a session.
I am a registered, accredited member of the BACP - this means that my work has been approved by the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, (one of the national bodies of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am bound by it's ethical principles. I'm also a Bupa recognised provider of Psychotherapy.
In a session you are free to talk about whatever it is that is troubling you. I will be working to provide a safe space to help you explore and develop within a genuine empathic relationship. I offer my honest perspective in a trusting, caring and confidential environment.
I work by helping clients make links between their current difficulties, and their past experiences. By understanding the past more clearly, I feel people can free themselves from negative conditioning and detrimental behaviours.
Perhaps you want to explore more specific questions, "who am I", "what do I want out of life" or "why do I always end up in the same situation". You may want help coming to terms with a crisis in your life, or a relationship difficulty that you are having, or maybe to explore uncomfortable feelings.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training is as follows:
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
MA in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
MSc in Addiction Counselling and Psychology.
Diploma in Integrative Counselling (accredited by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body).
As well as my private practice I have considerable experience in the NHS at Homerton Hospital & the Tavistock & Portman clinic (working with personality disorders, depression, bi-polar and anxiety), in organisational contexts, in addictions recovery group work, the charity sector, and mental health settings.
I am also a member of the TPPS (Tavistock Private Psychotherapy Service).
I have experience in working with Personality Disorders, Anger Management, Bereavement, Abuse, Depression & Anxiety, Addictions, Sex & Porn Addictions, Compulsive Gaming, Relationship Issues, Sexuality, Gay / Lesbian Issue's, Gender Identity, HIV, Identity, Suicidal Thoughts, Addiction, Stress and Childhood Related Issues, Low Self-Esteem, Bullying, Self Harm, Gambling, Alcoholism and Bipolar Disorder.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
