Profile
As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, I provide a quiet, non judgemental and confidential space in which we can explore the issues which concern you. It could be that you are having difficulties with relationships with other people. You may feel 'stuck' and not know how to deal with a difficult issue. You may have suffered a loss that you can't adjust to. Or you may be unhappy for no apparent reason.
I am trained as an integrative counsellor, working from a client-centred perspective, believing that each person presents with a unique set of characteristics and issues. I offer short or long-term therapy according to your requirements. I am also a qualified RELATE counsellor and have experience of working with couples and individual adults both at RELATE and in a GP practice setting.
The sorts of issues I most frequently encounter include low- self esteem, relationship issues, bereavement, stress, difficulties related to unhappiness or abuse in childhood or adulthood, anger, depression and anxiety. At times like this you can feel isolated or unsure as to how to move forward and it does take courage to take this first step.
I would offer you an opportunity, in a safe environment, to explore whatever concerns you may have and help you to find a way to achieve a better understanding of yourself, your feelings, thoughts and experiences. My role is not to tell you what you should do but to help you to empower yourself and make choices that may lead to more fulfilment in your life.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and aim to work in your best interests at all times in line with their Codes of Ethics and Practice.
I work from a Therapy Centre in Jesmond which also offers a range of complimentary therapies in a very relaxing, calm environment which is easily accessible by car or public transport (see their website at: jesmondtherapycentre.co.uk).
