John Hardy MA. MSc. MBAPC (Reg.)
163 Cheltenham Road
I have twenty two years continuous experience of providing confidential counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples.
You are welcome to discuss anything you wish. We would go at your own pace, in a calm, secure, confidential environment. You would not be asked to do or say anything you didn't want to. You would be free to express any thought, emotion or experience. You will be genuinely listened to and responded to without being judged.
We would attempt to understand why you feel or act as you do. What happens from there will be different for each person.
For some, the discussion of experiences and the expression of feelings, knowing that it is confidential, is a relief in itself. Finding that you can talk about something which seemed difficult or impossible to talk about can be the beginning of change.
Alternatively, it may be that understanding why you act or feel as you do is enough to bring a different view, and relief from anxiety or stress. Or we may be able to find alternative, better ways of seeing things.
You may feel that your partner is being unfair, not understanding your point of view, or behaving in a way which upsets you without being able to see why. We will attempt to address this.
The different points of view of a couple are explored in detail, and an attempt made at mutual understanding. Working towards better understanding of each other, of where your feelings and thoughts come from, and better expression of feelings and points of view, are the general aims of couples counselling. Suggestions may be made for different ways of doing things, but no-one is 'told' what to do, or persuaded or pressured in any way.
I also offer supervision to counsellors and trainees. Please email for details.
