Profile
Perhaps you have been considering talking to someone for a while and now have reached a point when you are taking the decision to do so.
You are taking the first and decisive step in moving forward to take charge of your life.
I am committed to providing counselling in a peaceful, safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment and work with both individuals and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
I am an experienced and senior accredited therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a qualified and experienced casework supervisor.
My Practice is in Halstead, within easy reach of villages in the Colne and Stour Valleys and within a 15 minute drive of Sudbury, Kelvedon, Coggeshall and Braintree. I am on the borders of Essex and Suffolk and located within a 30 minute drive of Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford, Colchester, Dunmow and Witham.
I offer an initial session of approximately one and a quarter hours, to begin to look at the issues concerning you, and for us both to see whether we should work together. Subsequent sessions are one hour long.
Initially meeting weekly is very helpful in settling into our work together. As we work towards completion of our work, you may decide to spread out sessions for a short while, say meeting fortnightly and then monthly, so you have space to reflect that you are ready to move on.
It is your unique journey.
I have experience in working in such areas as relationship issues, bereavement, stress and anxiety, abuse, work stress, loss and change. I have a particular interest in looking at life stages and their impact on our lives. Please see the range of areas covered below.
Take that next step.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I trained at Braintree College for four years, gaining a Diploma in Counselling in 1998.
In 2003 I became an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This process ensures that I work ethically and can demonstrate a sound and approved training, personal therapy and ongoing supervision of my work. It also ensures that I continue in ongoing professional development and this is reviewed annually to allow my status to continue.
In 2004 I gained a Diploma in Casework Supervision from Havering College of Further Education .
I was awarded the title of Senior Accredited Counsellor in 2009.
I am an Individual Member of the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I am an affiliate counsellor for several EAP providers.
I have worked as a counsellor since 1997, in my last year of training. I have worked as a counsellor in two general practitioner practices as well as counselling students in further education. I then went on to work at Bridge Counselling Service (formerly Bodey House) for a period of three and a half years as well as running a small private practice. I then made the decision to concentrate on private practice in a dedicated room, set aside for counselling, at my home in Halstead.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I have worked in various medical settings, later training in garden design and landscaping.
