About me

  • Are you feeling anxious and fearful?  You may not even quite know why
  • Perhaps you're challenged by a relationship, or the end of one? This could be a partner, friend, colleague or family member
  • Are you feeling depressed and unsure what to do about it?
  • Have you been bereaved and are finding it hard to come to terms with what's happened?
  • Are you being over-run by anger?
  • Perhaps you keep repeating a pattern in your life that isn't working for you?
  • Do you have a specific issue that you want to understand or resolve?
  • Perhaps you want to explore your potential?  You may have a sense that there's more to life than you are experiencing right now

Whatever it is that is motivating you to search.....

Give yourself the gift of a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place to explore what it is you might need.  Simply having more awareness of our issues can bring some relief.  Integrating that awareness into everyday life is what brings about change.  Counselling is a very powerful way of doing this.

We all have times in our lives when we need some skilled, professional and caring support.  If you are reading this then chances are there's something that's challenging or troubling you, or you have a sense that you're searching for something.

You don't have to put up with the way things are!

Sadly our society and our culture often suggest that we ought to 'just get on with it'.  This seldom works out as a satisfying solution.  Living life is about more that just getting on with it.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us"
                 - Marianne Williamson.

Counselling can offer very real, long lasting and empowering solutions.
You may not be able to change certain circumstances but you can certainly change how you respond and relate to those circumstances.  This is called 're-framing' and is a powerful catalyst for change.

I work with individuals and with couples.  The initial consultation is affordable so that you can check out if I am the right counsellor for you to work with.

Finding the right counsellor is a crucial part of the journey.  (Please read my article on this subject - see the link below.)  You are under no obligation or pressure to continue after the initial consultation.

"What lies behind you and what lies in front of you pales in comparison
to what lies inside of you
"
                   - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
