Profile
My approach is to focus on establishing a trusting relationship thereby enabling a sense of an emotionally safe space within which to work therapeutically. In offering respect and an unconditional approach I aim to work without judgement and with a warm, supportive and empathic attitude. Within this environment the freedom to explore aspects of your life and the difficulties you are experiencing can develop and encompass insight, understanding and choice around change.
My background is in nursing within the NHS. My interest in loss and bereavement led to my undertaking some training with my local hospice and from this I pursued several years of counselling training within Reading College and Thames Valley University. I work part time in private practice from The Therapy Centre which is close to the centre of Reading. I work with individual adults.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I gained my Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Thames Valley University in 2006. This course is accredited through the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. The training approach is Person-Centred and Existential. My qualifications are listed below.
I have worked as a counsellor within a GP practice and also a Women's Centre gaining wide experience. In private practice much of my work has been with clients experiencing relationship difficulties, low self esteem and depression.

Fees
The fee for an initial assessment appointment is £20. This provides an opportunity to meet me and gain a better sense of what counselling can offer you and how you feel about working with me. My full fee for counselling is £45 per session. Sessions are weekly and for 50 minutes. Some concessions are possible for those on low income. Payment is made at the end of each session and can be cash or cheque. I'm sorry I have no facilities for debit or credit cards.
