Profile

While a person can feel better after a good talk with a friend or relative, for moderate or severe emotional distress, this relief may only be temporary. However, talking with a trained listener can help alleviate emotional distress for good. This is because Psychotherapists are trained to listen and interact in a way that helps you get to the very root of your emotional concerns, helping you gain insight into your feelings, change behaviors, and resolve problems.

I am a trained and qualified psychotherapist working in Victoria/Westminster, London. When I work with my clients, I engage with them both intellectually and emotionally. It is also very important to me that my clients know, that all human beings have problems from time to time, or have periods when we feel we can't cope. There is no shame in this, it is not a weakness, it is part of being human.

I work mainly in the area of Anxiety/Stress. This includes; Panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, obsessive relationship issues, body dysmorphia, generalised anxiety. I also work with Adults with attention deficit and hyperactive disorder ADHD. Although this is my main area of work, it also includes problems resulting from these conditions which include depression, low self esteem/ low self worth/image and risk taking behavior, and feelings of not being able to cope.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have a foundation degree in social sciences, a BSc honours degree in Psychology, and a Diploma in Psychotherapy. I am registered with National council of psychotherapist, and am a member of the British Psychological Society.

I have a wide range of experience working with people with all sorts of problems, but mainly deal with issues around anxiety, fear, and stress.

Some of the physical symptoms caused by anxiety include: light headedness/dizzy,tingling sensations in your body, or racing heart. Fear of everyday things like driving/public transport, going out to particular places. Worrying overly about your health or fearing something terrible might happen to you or a loved one. Feeling afraid, guilty, or unworthy. Problems sleeping at night and or feeling constantly tired or restless.

I have also extensive experience working with people with obsessive compulsive disorder, which is also an anxiety related problem. Some of the symptoms related to OCD include: Repeating things, thinking terrible or upsetting thoughts, carrying out tasks in order to stop something bad from happening (magical thinking), and physical stress.

I am one of the few therapists in London who also work with Adults with ADHD, and have extensive knowledge in this area. Most of the problems adults have with ADHD are around organisation and personal relationships, as well as difficulty relaxing and sleeping at night.

I have also done charity helpline work with people suffering from serious illness, and terminal illness. It was this work that helped me develop a more existential way of working with my clients, and develop the belief that we are all Human beings, trying our best to understand the world around us.
