Profile
When we feel our lives are out of control sometimes we need a little more help to get back on track and that's where counselling can help. Our daily lives are challenging in themselves, but as troublesome past or current isssues need more attention we have an option of a counsellors confidential and individual support. As one of those counsellor's here's bit more about me and what I can offer:
I am currently a counsellor with the North East Derbyshire Womens Aid centre in Chesterfield providing and specialising in counselling women who are victims of domestic/sexual abuse.
I also have good experience in the area of Anger Management but particuarly in relationships providing counselling for either partner in a relationship.
I have also counselled with Alcohol Advisery Services and currently in my private practice provide post addiction counselling for rehabilitation centres throughout the UK.
Along with many other issues (notably Trauma / PTSD, OCD, Personality Disorders) and through helping individuals or providing commercial workshops, these experiences have given me a wide range of counselling experiences in a variety of areas:
- Abuse, Addictions Drugs & Alcohol, Anger Management, Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Panic Attacks, Bereavement, Eating Disorders, Employment Difficulties, Obsessions, Personality Disorders, Phobias, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Relationship issues for the individual, Sexuality and gender issues, Cultural and Religious issues.
At heart I am a therapist who uses Cognitive therapy as a base component in her practice as I believe in the power of thinking and our ability to relearn, challenge or rethink unhelpful thoughts that maybe dictating our life in a negative or unsupportive way. I believe this can also help with unwanted behaviours, but I dont stop there. I also pull in from many other different theories and therapies to tailor to your individual needs and circumstances as I believe we are all unique.
