About me

Is depression, anxiety, stress and anger stopping you from getting what you want out of your life? Looking for an answer to behaviour that doesn't feel like 'you'? Maybe PTSD or childhood trauma is making it difficult for you to be the person you would like to be? The right therapy changes peoples lives, helps them fulfill their potential. I use Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR and the Flash Technique to help with trauma, whether recent or in the past as well as welcome clients to bring any issue. My practice in Kings Worthy is a short drive from Winchester and 2 min from nearest bus stop. There is easy parking outside. I trained as a Person Centred Counsellor and that is still the foundation for all the work I do. I aim to provide a confidential and non-judgemental environment working both short and long term.

Training, qualifications & experience

I initially trained as a Bereavement Counsellor and went on to do a BA(Hons) in Person Centred Counselling at Metanoia Institute where I also trained as a supervisor. I am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level III and EMDR for treatment of trauma, developmental issues and neglect etc. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body centred therapy, acknowledging that our body holds memories of events, as well as the emotions and narrative memory, which can be worked through in therapy. Working with the body in this way seem to lower the risk of re-traumatisation. I also use the Flash Technique, which is particularly helpful when memories are hard or too difficult to access. I have many years experience working with bereavement, domestic violence, rape and sexual abuse, sexuality, gender and a wide range of life’s issues. I have worked with clients of different minorities and as I am Swedish myself, I know how difficult it can be to talk about emotional issues in a foreign language. I am an accredited member of BACP, member of EMDR Association UK and the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute (UK).
As well as therapy I offer one-to-one supervision sessions in my private practice and to organisations.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
