About me

I am an experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and transactional analyst offering therapy for individuals, couples and groups with a half hour initial meeting free of charge. I also work with counselling and psychotherapy students.

I offer a comfortable quiet setting in the Hampshire village of Overton, less than half an hour by car from Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Newbury and there is free parking outside.

The wide range of different therapies available to new clients can be confusing, I believe what is most important is whether we could work together in a way that is effective and helpful to you.

You may initially be unsure of what you want and there is no magic formula, together we can explore your needs and how to meet them. By offering a balance of support and challenge, my aim is to help you establish how you would like to be and then for us to work together to empower you to change whatever you decide in order to make that happen.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been in private practice since 2009 and see a wide range of clients bringing combinations of issues including; depression, anxiety, loss, low self esteem, relationship problems, stress, panic attacks, feeling stuck, low motivation, addiction, eating disorders, many different types of abuse and coping with change.

Outside of private practice; I have run a process group on a counselling foundation degree course in Winchester and have worked as a therapist with students and teachers at a technical college.

I have a masters degree in Psychotherapy, a diploma in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis and I am a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA) with Psychotherapy speciality. ,

I am also a member of the following professional organisations.
*UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy)
*BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and their Private Practice organisiation
*UKATA (United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis)
*IARTA (International Association of Relational Transactional Analysis)
*ITAA (International Transactional Analysis Association)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
