Welcome to my profile. I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, offering a warm welcome and a confidential and professional service in a peaceful setting close to Derby.
Seeking counselling and finding a therapist can be daunting, to help with this process I offer a free initial 30 minute appointment so you can meet me and decide whether I'm the right therapist for you.
Counselling provides an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings that may be causing problems, to help move towards change, more beneficial ways of living and promote a greater sense of wellbeing. A variety of interventions can be incorporated to help with this process and my training, which includes academic study over 7 years, has given me a sound knowledge and understanding of the major theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy.
Work can be short or long term, depending on how you arrived at your present situation and circumstances and what your hopes and expectations of counselling may be. I am experienced in longer term working and also short term work, which can be very effective in resolving a specific issue.
My practice is based at my home in Allestree which is close to the University of Derby, one mile from the A38, less than 3 miles from Derby and around 15 minutes from the M1. It is a short walk to the nearest bus stop and there is car parking on site, my therapy room is on the ground floor and easily accessible.
I have worked in a variety of counselling settings and have been a tutor in Counselling at a local college. Within my private practice my work with clients covers a wide range of issues including anger management, bereavement and loss (including bereavement by suicide and pet bereavement), low self esteem and low self-confidence, abuse, trauma, relationship issues and couples counselling (including trust issues, divorce and separation), anxiety, depression and stress, panic disorder, phobias, child related issues, compulsive hoarding and work related stress. I am an affiliate counsellor for a number of Employee Assistance Programmes and have been a volunteer counsellor at various agencies over a number of years, including Derby Women's Centre and Derby College.
I hold current insurance and an enhanced CRB check.
If you have any questions about my service, please phone me on 07519807082 or email me at the above address.
