About me

I understand that clients come to therapy feeling anxious, stressed or having relationship problems. My aim is that what ever the situation you can share your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental, confidential setting. Sharing the problems and exploring thoughts and feelings can lead to a deeper understanding of your issues.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help you to understand the link between thinking, feelings and behaviours and is especially helpful with worry, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, stress, specific phobias, social phobia, OCD, IBS, health anxiety and many other issues. CBT enables you to overcome your anxiety and depression.  Anxiety is treatable thinking about things in a different way can help you to develop strategies and develop new perspectives.

I have extensive experience working with young people and adults.    I am qualified to Advanced Diploma level in counselling and Post Graduate Diploma Level in CBT. I am accredited with BABCP.

I am also an EMDR practitioner.  EMDR helps with traumatic memories which may not have been processed properly.  This may mean that you re-experience the event.  This treatment aims to help you remember the event rather than feeling that it is happening again and again.

Training, qualifications & experience

Advanced Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,
Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy, EMDR practitioner Training.

I have experience working with the NHS, in an education setting, in a large manufacturing company, with young people and adults.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
