Profile
I am a warm, intuitive, BACP Accredited Counsellor working on the Dorset & Somerset border. As a Humanistic & Integrative Counsellor, I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is very important. I am understanding, accepting, and genuine. I also believe that the early environment is important and that our earliest experiences can affect how we think and behave in later life.
Counselling offers a safe, confidential and supportive space to talk about your difficulties, make sense of them, and move on.
If talking is difficult, I can use creative materials to help you express yourself.
I aim to work with you to help you to find your own solutions, and offer both short and long term counselling.
I see clients at my home in Sherborne, which has plenty of street parking and is within walking distance of Sherborne town centre.
If you would like to meet me and decide if I am the kind of counsellor that you are looking for, then please contact me to arrange a no-obligation one hour assessment session at a cost of £25. I offer both daytime and evening appointments.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I also have a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology from University College, London. I am a Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have experience of working in a Charity for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, a University Counselling Service, a Barnardo's Family Centre and a Psychodynamic Counselling Agency.
I work with adults with a variety of problems, as detailed below.
I spent four years working in a University Student Counselling Service, and since 2005 I have been a volunteer and, from July 2010, a supervisor for NAPAC; the National Association for People Abused in Childhood. I therefore have a lot of experience of working with young adults, and also adults who have experienced any form of abuse in childhood.

Fees
Usually sessions are weekly for fifty minutes and cost £38. I am able to offer some sessions at a reduced rate of £20-30 for people who are on a low income.
The number of sessions required will depend on your individual needs.
I offer a one hour initial assessment session at a reduced rate of £25. This will give us the opportunity to decide whether counselling will be of help to you, and if I am the right person for you to work with. It will give you a chance to gently explore some of the feelings you are experiencing, and get a feel for the way I work. You will be able to ask any questions you may have, and decide if you wish to continue.
