Cemaliye Deran, BA (Hons), HpDip Couns. MBACP.
I am a qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor & Couples Therapist working with individuals & couples. I am committed to offering a safe, confidential space where it is possible to be heard without being judged.
How counselling can help you
There are many reasons for seeking counselling. You may be feeling upset and distressed and have problems with your feelings, thoughts, relationships with others, or behaviour. You may be facing a sudden life-crisis such as bereavement, divorce or the loss of your job. Perhaps you feel stuck in a difficult situation. Whatever your concerns, counselling will offer a safe space for you to be heard and understood.
My approach is gentle, where through the process of developing a trusting 'therapeutic relationship' we explore together the issues you choose to bring and that are troubling you in your life. I am committed to offering a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space enabling a climate for self-reflection, increased personal awareness and understanding about a current issue or situation.
How do sessions work?
Sessions usually last 50 mins, normally on a weekly basis although it is possible to negotiate shorter or longer sessions depending on what is required. By the end of the first session, if we have agreed that we will work together, we will establish a verbal contract, unique to us regarding the boundaries of the therapy.
Couples therapy offers a safe supportive space in which couples have the opportunity to explore their relationship difficulties. This can help you rebuild your relationship and stay together. However, if you expressly wish to separate, then couples therapy can also help you to do that more amicably.
Sessions are usually weekly and can be between one and two hours in duration. This is negotiated, agreed and reviewed by 'us' throughout the therapeutic work and is also dependent on your needs as a couple and availability. I am often able to offer a degree of flexibility for working couples by offering early morning and late evening appointments.
If you would like to know more about whether couples therapy is the next step for your relationship, then please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your needs or to book an initial session.
Since 2007, I have worked extensively both in private practice and in the public sector with people from culturally diverse backgrounds and from all walks of life. As a therapist, some of my experiences include working in the NHS as an Individual and Couples Counsellor (GP Surgeries); School Counsellor with young people (11-19yrs); the Addictions Field (Drug & Alcohol); with the Elderly and Parents & Families. I have an established Private Practice in London SE6 and have now extended this to include a second location in Clapham SW4.
I am a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and am committed to their Professional & Ethical boundaries in my work. In addition, I have full Insurance cover and current CRB clearance.
If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me - this does not mean you are obligated in anyway to book a session.
