About me

My name is James and the way I practise psychotherapy is fundamentally simple and straightforward.

Life is difficult. This is a great truth. And for most of us, at certain times it is so difficult that we need assistance to see past our blind spots and blocks. I believe that a skilled psychotherapist essentially offers to appropriately love his or her clients back to health. This can be required in our present-day society in which money, power, intelligence and “success” have taken precedence over the truly valuable things in life: love, joy, peace, contentment and fulfilment.

I explore a client’s life from the perspective of attachment theory. This theory proposes that young children need to develop a healthy, consistent, “good-enough” relationship with at least one primary caregiver for normal social and emotional development. This exploration gently reveals insights into the client’s present issues and possible ways to address them.

In our sessions, you can consider alternative perceptions of you, your life, the world and more. We can explore the webs of conditioning and judgement that have been overlaid upon your true self. You can then entertain radically different possibilities in terms of how you perceive yourself and your life, thus increasing inner peace and self-acceptance.

If any of this resonates with you or you’d like to ask me anything, please get in touch and we can discuss your situation in greater depth.

Take care,

James

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
