Profile
Congratulations on acknowledging that you deserve to address your needs and wants.
Starting out on a therapeutic journey might feel like a daunting process, thinking about who to see, what to talk about, how long it will take and perhaps even at the back of your mind ‘do I need it?’.
Undertaking talking therapy can help you work through life events, conflicts and challenges from the past, present and future. It allows you the time to stop and think, breathe and be yourself to accept those things you want or throw away those you don’t. You can look forward to a regular safe space to let go, be angry, be sad and be happy, a time for you to release whatever you wish.
My belief is that you have the choice and power to change your thoughts or patterns in life, that you have the right to be peaceful and happy, and that you deserve to be the best you can be by leaving anything that prevents you being so behind and under control.
I work on the basis that each client is an individual, with a unique life story, experiences and personality. Based upon this, I offer counselling and psychotherapy to meet your needs in the most appropriate way. My approach is known as Integrative. This means I draw upon different theories to work with you in the most suitable way for your needs, unique life story and personality. My theoretical bases include humanistic and person-centred, psychodynamic, existential and cognitive behavioural therapy.
I understand that sometimes talking is difficult, and words can be hard to find. We can work with other means of expression, such as painting, clay, puppets and sand trays which can be a stimulating and powerful method for you to address what is needed.
However we work together, we can talk through how it meets your needs and makes a difference to how you feel. I offer you an accepting and safe space to explore what you want to, listening and talking without judgement.
Yes, it can be scary, but it can also be liberating, refreshing and ultimately life affirming and positive.
I am a member of the BACP and have full professional indemnity insurance
I can work with individuals, couples, families and groups. I have experience in working with career and work related issues, anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem and low self-confidence, anger management, relationship problems for individuals and couples (including separation, divorce, affairs), abusive relationships, sexual issues, bereavement, infertility, childhood issues and trauma, abuse, OCD, self harm, feelings of wanting to hurt yourself or feeling unhappy or discontented.
If attending regular face to face sessions is a challenge, once we have had an initial meeting I can hold the sessions over the telephone.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I have undertaken several years training and gained my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and the Advanced Certificate in Childrens and Family Therapy. I also work at a voluntary agency where I see clients with a broad spectrum of issues and mental health problems.
I believe it is imperative that I continue my learning and experience, and have undertaken additional training in areas including domestic abuse, suicide, stress and anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, childhood trauma, self harm, depression, shame and grief and loss.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the BACP Workplace Association, the Association of Independent Practitioners (AIP) and Counselling Children and Young People group (CCYP). I have full professional indemnity insurance and hold CRB clearance (Criminal Records Bureau). I have regular clinical supervision and my own therapy to ensure I am unclouded and safe for my clients.

Further Information
Sessions are by appointment only but I am flexible, working during the day, evenings (my last appointment is 9pm) and weekends. If you work shifts, varying hours or have other problems maintaining a regular slot I am happy to meet that need.
Therapy can be provided at two locations. I can see you either in Mayford (just outside of Woking) or in Twickenham. The Mayford room is located in a tranquil, peaceful environment on a farm overlooking fields and horses. It is a short drive from Guildford, Brookwood, Camberley, Knaphill and Chobham. The room in Twickenham is close to the station in a well lit area with parking on the road outside and is within easy reach of west London.
